From Oct. 30 to Nov. 6, 2012, some Altura Credit Union Members may have experienced a denial of electronic, or ACH, financial transactions. These denials were made in error and triggered by incorrect formatting of account numbers. We are doing all we can to resolve these errors in a timely manner.
Our Call Center is notifying impacted Members directly. Altura is also following up with institutions originating transactions that failed, providing the correct account information and requesting they update their records for the future.
We also recommend that Members whose transactions were denied in error contact the merchants involved in those transactions to ensure they have your correct account information. If you need assistance with identifying the correct account number, please contact our Call Center at 1-888-883-7228.
This error was the unanticipated result of Altura moving our electronic transaction processing to the Federal Reserve on Sept. 25, 2012. Apparently, not all Altura account numbers were formatted according to Federal Reserve requirements, which caused the denial errors. Altura processes all transactions electronically, including deposits, checks and electronic payments, in compliance with the Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act, also known as Check 21.
