March 11 Deadline for College Scholarship Applications

(Riverside, Calif.) March 1, 2013 – Monday, March 11, is the deadline for submitting applications for one of 35 college scholarships being awarded by Altura Credit Union to seniors graduating from Riverside County high schools this year. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. to The Community Foundation Serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, 3700 Sixth Street, Suite 200, Riverside CA 92501, Attn: Celia Cudiamat.

Applications can be downloaded directly from The Community Foundation website at www.thecommunityfoundation.net/, and may also be available from area high school guidance counselors. The Community Foundation assists Altura by accepting and processing the hundreds of applications. The Foundation also can assist students with completing the application.

The Altura Credit Union Scholarship Foundation makes the actual selection of scholarship recipients. All applicants are expected to be goal-oriented students who exhibit academic achievement, community service/extracurricular involvement, personal character/leadership qualities and financial need. Students must be graduating from a Riverside County high school, either public or private.

Of the 35 scholarships to be awarded in 2013, 20 are general scholarships, 10 are for students planning to attend the University of California, Riverside, and five are designated for students in AVID programs in Riverside County schools. In addition, up to three memorial scholarships of $1,000 may be awarded.

Students can apply for one or more of the scholarships using a single application.
