Starting to build credit at an early age is important, but it’s not for everyone. If you’re not going to use your credit card responsibly, it’s better that you don’t open a credit card at all. You are probably ready for a credit card if you:
- Make and stick to a budget
- Resist impulse buys
- Have a basic understanding of finances
- Have a job (even if it’s part-time)
- Ask questions when you don’t understand things
